History of Bhaisdhara: How it all started
In the 18th century, A king from the Malla dynasty decided to create something special in the park. He ordered the construction of 22 stone water sprouts, which were like taps, but with a twist. The artist crafted them to look like crocodiles, even though he had never seen one in real life. It was an incredible display of imagination and skill. These stone water sprouts had a practical purpose too. They provided water for different uses in the park. Over time, they became a symbol of the park’s beauty and the craftsmanship of the people who made them.
Besides the water sprouts, Baisdhara also has a replica of Budhanilkantha. According to a story, the king was worried about a dream he had, where Lord Vishnu warned him and his descendants about seeing the real reclining image of Lord Vishnu at Budhanilkantha. To avoid any harm, the king installed a replica of Budhanilkantha in a pool filled with sacred water in Baisdhara. It became a place of worship for people.

- Taxi or Private Vehicle: You can hire a taxi or drive your own vehicle to Baisdhara. From Kathmandu, head northwest towards Balaju Chowk. Balaju Garden is located near Balaju Chowk.
- Public Bus: You can take a local bus from Kathmandu to Balaju Chowk. Buses heading towards Balaju or Gongabu generally pass by Balaju Chowk.
