Champadevi Hike: A Day Trip to Stunning Views of the Kathmandu Valley

Champadevi Hike

The Champadevi hike is a popular day trip from Kathmandu that offers stunning views of the valley and the surrounding Himalayan mountains. This hike is relatively easy, making it a great option for beginners or families.

The hike starts in the village of Pharping, which is about an hour’s drive from Kathmandu. From Pharping, the trail leads through a lush pine forest to the top of Champadevi Hill. The climb takes about 2.5 hours
The views from the top are truly breathtaking. On a clear day, you can see the entire Kathmandu Valley, including the Pashupatinath Temple, the Boudhanath Stupa, and the mountains of Langtang, Manaslu, and Everest. You may also see some monkeys and birds along the way.

The Champadevi hike is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu and experience the beauty of the Nepali countryside. It is also a great way to get some exercise and enjoy the fresh air.

Here are some tips for planning your Champadevi hike:

  • The best time to hike Champadevi is during the spring (March-May) or autumn (September-November). The weather is usually clear and sunny during these months.
  • Wear comfortable hiking shoes and clothes. The trail can be muddy in some places, so it is a good idea to bring rain gear as well.
  • Bring plenty of water and snacks. There are no shops or restaurants along the trail.
  • Allow plenty of time for the hike. It takes about 2.5 hours to reach the top of Champadevi Hill.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. There are monkeys and other wildlife in the area.
  • The final ascent to the top of Champadevi Hill is a bit steep, but the views from the top are worth it!
