In the wake of the recent earthquake that rattled the region, a dedicated team from the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, based in Lainchaur, has swiftly mobilized to Jajarkot. Led by the esteemed senior seismologist, Dr. Lokvijaya Adhikari, the team’s mission is to conduct comprehensive research and analysis of the earthquake that struck on Friday night.

The team, in collaboration with the Department of Mines and Geology under the guidance of Director General Ram Prasad Ghimire, will conduct a thorough examination. Not an Aftershock:
Clarifying misconceptions, senior seismologist Dr. Adhikari asserted that the earthquake in Jajarkot was not an aftershock of the Bajhang earthquake. This seismic activity was an entirely new earthquake. The region has experienced four significant aftershocks following the initial earthquake on Friday night. These aftershocks included a magnitude 4.5 at 12:08 p.m., a 4.2 at 12:29 p.m., a 4.3 at 12:35 p.m., and another 4.2 at 3:40 p.m. on the following Saturday afternoon.
