In Ilam, the Agriculture Knowledge Centre found that even though less land was used to grow cardamom, they still managed to increase cardamom production by almost 8% this year compared to last year. This time, they grew cardamom on 1,753 hectares and got 1,320 tons, while last year, they had 1,755 hectares and produced 1,215.26 tons.
The amount they get from each hectare also went up, from 0.69% last year to 0.75% this year, according to Bardewa, the Centre Chief. On top of that, there’s been a big growth in dragon fruit farming in Ilam. They went from growing it on just 0.5 hectares last year to 10 hectares this year.
