The popular wild tusker Dhrube has been spotted in human settlements in Chitwan National Park on one occasion. On Wednesday and Thursday, the wild tusker was spotted in Madi Municipality and the Bayarghari neighborhood of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-23, Chitwan.
Also, Dhrube destroyed four homes in Bayarghari on Thursday, according to Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, the Chitwan National Park (CNP) Information Officer. The comeback of Dhrube has frightened the local people.
The Dhrube elephant, which has killed 22 people so far, was also spotted in the Madi area and wards 23 and 24 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City last month. A satellite necklace was installed to track the elephant’s movements to control Dhrube’s activity.
Since the wild tusker entered the human settlements, the National Park has advised the locals to take safety precautions.
