Tilaurakot Kapilvastu will be added to the World Heritage Center of UNESCO. The signed Nomination dossier is ready to be submitted by the Nepali government to be added to the World Heritage List.
The government’s signature was provided by Sudan Kirati, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
The location of Tilaurakot is 29 km west of Lumbini and 3 km north-west of Taulihawa. It was rediscovered in 1899 by P. C. Mukherji and many scholars believe that Prince Siddhartha spent his formative years there as the ancient capital of the Sakya kingdom known as Kapilavastu.
As per the Lumbini Development Trust, Tilaurakot is an excellent example of ancient palace architecture because of its elevated location, strong protection wall, and external barrier.
