Mallarani, a scenic tourist destination, has recently introduced the thrilling adventure sport of ‘zip-lining’ to enhance tourism and attract visitors to the region.
After the establishment of federalism, Mallarani, situated near the district headquarters Khalanga, had been experiencing a slow pace of development. To boost tourism in the Mallarani area, the local community took the initiative to create an adventure infrastructure by constructing a zip line, investing a whopping one crore rupees, as revealed by Imansingh Bharti, the Chairman of Mallarani Tourism Investment Pvt. Ltd.
The zip line, constructed in the Dhairichaur Community Forest and Palewan Community Forest of Mallarani Rural Municipality-4, is part of a comprehensive tourism development program. According to Bharti, coordination with the Nepal Journalist Federation, including its former president Bharat Bhurtel, was crucial in carrying out this project.

The zip line, has a distance of 150 meters from the take-off point to the landing point, is expected to attract adventure enthusiasts. Bharti expressed confidence that the construction of the zip line would contribute to the growth of tourism in the Mallarani region.
The official inauguration of the zip line is currently in the preparation phase, with the construction nearing completion. The zip line will accommodate more than 200 rides daily. Mallarani, in recent times, has become a preferred tourist destination, offering an environmentally rich experience. It is located just two kilometers from Khalanga, the district headquarters, and provides stunning views of the Dhaulagiri, Machapuchare, and other Himalayan peaks.
In addition to the zip line, Mallarani Rural Municipality has already undertaken initiatives such as the construction of a Children’s Park and picnic spots to promote internal tourism. Previously, Mallarani had successfully tested paragliding as part of its efforts to enhance continuous tourism. The locals anticipate an increase in domestic tourists during the New Year, Fagu Purnima, and festival holidays, with many drawn to the region’s natural beauty and unique offerings.
