Tourism in Dhorpatan Affected Due to Chilly Weather and Road Conditions

Dhorpatan, a popular destination for tourists, is currently witnessing a decline in tourist numbers due to the extremely cold weather and challenging road conditions. The continued cold spell has prohibited tourists, impacting both hotel businesses and travel plans.

The recent entry of tourists has not summed up into increased business for hotels, with many choosing not to venture out due to the severe cold. Even hoteliers are experiencing difficulties as the bitter cold has led to freezing pipes and water shortages.

Several localities in the lower regions, such as Bobang and Adhikari Chaur, have reported heavy snowfall, further limiting movement and deterring visitors. Bhandari explained that although tourists previously flocked to Dhorpatan for sightseeing and pilgrimage during this time, the current extreme weather has hampered the usual flow.

The hotel industry in Dhorpatan, comprising 33 hotels and lodges, has faced unprecedented challenges due to the challenging road conditions. Daily arrivals of around three hundred tourists have seen a decline this year.

Local hoteliers emphasized the difficulty in managing travel logistics, as the rough roads make transportation cumbersome. The unavailability of buses after the recent snowfall has added to the inconvenience faced by both tourists and hotel owners.

The situation might improve as the weather warms up, and tourists may return for the unique offerings of Dhorpatan.
