11th Nepal Literature Festival Started in Pokhara

At Pokhara’s Barahighat, Lakeside, the 11th edition of the Nepal Literature Festival has officially begun. The ceremony was opened by Surendraraj Pandey, the Chief Minister of Gandaki Province.

He predicted that the Nepal Literature Festival will contribute to Pokhara’s reputation as a culturally vibrant city at the time. “Social solidarity along with cultural diversity is a crucial aspect,” Pandey said.

According to Pandey, the literary event has given Pokhara a distinct character at a time when plans are being made to officially proclaim the city a tourism destination.

He went on to say that social transformation is the ultimate aim of both politics and literature. “The arts and literature play a crucial influence in a nation’s political change. Writing is a powerful medium for expression. Politicians like us look to literature for unbiased critiques.”

The Festival’s organizer said that panel discussions featuring professionals sharing their critical perspectives on a variety of topics related to the arts, literature, music, education, politics, and economy will be held.

Former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha gave a keynote address on “Constitution and Good-Governance” following the inaugural session. In it, he emphasized how unwilling we are to participate in constitutional procedures and decision-making. He urged a study of the constitution and emphasized the necessity of implementing it gradually.
