About 128,300 tourists visited Nepal in January and February of the year before. However, the number shot up to over 176,500 in the same months of 2024, indicating a growth of more than 37.57% arrival of tourists. This comprises arrivals via land and air travel, as both affect the rise of visitors.
Approximately 97,426 tourists arrived in Nepal via air in February alone. China and India are the top two nations sending tourists to Nepal. Nepal hosted 25,578 visitors from India and 9,180 from China in February. 9,089 visitors were also sent by the United States.
Germany, Australia, and Myanmar are three of the top 10 tourist-attracting countries in Nepal. Buddha’s birthplace, Lumbini, and other Buddhist places in Nepal may be of great interest to Buddhist tourists, especially those from Thailand and Myanmar.
