A new tourism information center opened in Ward No. 8, Veerthanti, Annapurna Rural Municipality, Kaski. It cost 6 million rupees and was set up by the Gandaki Province government and the rural municipality. Vishnu Bahadur Keshi, the rural municipality chairman, said this during the opening ceremony.
Keshi praised Annapurna for its excellent work in Gandaki Province and stressed the importance of developing tourism in the area. He thanked those who donated land for the center and said the municipality is looking for new ways to improve.
He also talked about promoting Annapurna’s famous trekking trail and its natural beauty and culture to tourists worldwide. The center aims to create jobs through tourism.
The opening was part of a celebration of Annapurna Rural Municipality’s achievements. Bharatman Gurung, the spokesperson, said the project is part of the municipality’s efforts to promote tourism and technology. The center will have information desks, service rooms, libraries, museums, and places to display and sell local crafts and products.
Balram Bhugail, the municipality’s information officer, said they trained 35 trekking guides. Other tourism activities are also happening.
Former Vice President Punyaprasad Paudel talked about Annapurna’s importance in tourism and the need to focus on agriculture too. He also mentioned the need for the federal government to support the municipality financially.
Yuvraj Kunwar, the former vice-chairperson, and Chandrakala Devkota Officer, the vice-chairperson, were happy about the center opening and believed it would attract more tourists. They also hoped the construction would finish soon.
