Tourist Numbers Increased in Kanchenjunga Area: Boost for Local Economy and Tourism Industry

Kanchenjunga Region – @whatthenepal.com

More tourists are visiting the Kanchenjunga area lately. Around 650 foreign tourists have visited there in the last three months. The Office of The Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Management Council shared this information. They said that during the first season of this year, 650 foreign tourists went to the base camp of Kanchenjunga Mountain. Also, an equal number of domestic tourists visited, but they didn’t keep track of their numbers. Local hotel owners are happy about the increase in tourists.

Tourism business owners believe that even more tourists will come during the second season from April to June. Nepal had 439 international visitors in the previous year. Based on figures from the Council, there are 211 more international visitors this year than there were last year. The tourism sector is gradually returning to normal as more visitors arrive. According to Man Kumar Limbu, an employee of the Council, the Kanchenjunga area is becoming busier after being quiet due to COVID-19.

The Kanchenjunga region’s economy greatly depends on tourism. It gives the nearby communities a substantial financial boost. The return of tourists is welcomed by the residents and is excellent news for those who operate hotels and other tourism-related enterprises.
