The 25th Flora Expo will kick off in Kathmandu in the first week of Chaitra.
The Floriculture Association of Nepal said they’re putting on a flower show at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu from Chaitra 1 to Chaitra 4.
They’re expecting a total of 73 exhibitors, with 60 stalls selling stuff, 3 areas showing off landscapes, 8 official booths, 1 spot for competition, and 1 food stall.
Sitaram Pant, Vice President of the Floriculture Association Nepal and Coordinator of the Fair, revealed that these stalls will showcase and vend an assortment of ornamental pots, cut flowers, sunflowers, compost fertilizers, floral arrangements, vision presentations, greenhouse structures, agricultural implements, and packaging materials. Furthermore, participating flower entrepreneurs will engage in competitive showcases across various categories, with winners to be recognized with cash prizes, plaques, and certificates.
Organizers anticipate the expo to draw approximately 50,000 visitors throughout its duration, with an estimated business turnover of around Rs. 100 million.
Presently, floriculture operations span approximately 221 hectares across 48 districts nationwide. The association reports a notable uptick in annual turnover, reflecting a 33.63 percent increase compared to the previous fiscal year, reaching over Rs. 3.07 billion in the economic year 2079/80. Similarly, the Department of Customs notes a trade turnover of roughly Rs. 330 million in exports and imports each, totaling approximately Rs. 660 million in the fiscal year 2079/80.
