The Nepali government has declared the start of the Prime Minister’s Daughter Self-Reliance Program as a part of its policy and program for the forthcoming fiscal year 2081/82. This drive is meant to give skill development training and financial help to women nationwide, to make them self-reliant and empowered.
Skill Development and Financial Assistance
The project will provide education in different skills, like plumbing, bulb making, and other vocational fields, to women and thus, enhance their financial independence. The government has decided to set a target of giving skill development training to 20 million women from different villages in Nepal.
Enhancing Women’s Participation in Decision-Making
Providing women with education, good health, self-reliance, and an effective role in decision-making the government aims to create an environment where women can freely pursue their aspirations and thus become a vital part of the development of society. The program is believed to be a catalyst for improving women’s lives and encouraging their participation in the country’s development.
Furthermore, president Poudel mentions, abuse of children, violence against women, human trafficking and rape, untouchability, drug addiction, dowry, chaupadi, tilak, and other social superstitions and exploitation will be eradicated.
The introduction of the Prime Minister’s Daughter Self-Reliance Programme is a major move towards women’s empowerment in Nepal. Through the provision of skill development training, financial assistance, and the creation of a favorable environment for women to participate in decision-making, the government is aiming to encourage women’s self-reliance and to promote their role in the country’s development.
