June 6, Kathmandu,Nepal:DEITIES OF NEPAL is a major theme exhibition organized to bring together folk, traditional, and modern art of Nepal’s gods on one platform. This exhibition shows how Nepali artists have presented a variety of gods and goddesses in their many expressions for holy purposes and to decorate the beauty of religious areas. Combining harmony and dedication to one or more great gods, visitors are encouraged to reflect on the diversity of expression and inspiration of individual artists from many backgrounds and groups.
The art exhibition is running from May 21 to June 10. The Deities of Nepal II exhibition festival is organized in collaboration with Kathmandu Metropolitan City. In this exhibition, around 220 artworks will be presented by 162 artists.
As you enter a Nepal art gallery, two friendly-looking creatures (sharduls) welcome you in a modern building. Despite its lack of architecture, the art gallery was established in 1962. Inside, there are some monastery paintings by Tsreing Phonjo Gurung and the Partan Krishna mandir in Maithili style by Priyanka Karn, which capture attention because they combine tradition and natural styles with vivid colors and small details.
The exhibition is trying to highlight Nepal’s dynamic, invisible, and unseen heritage through diverse gods and their shared beliefs. This exhibition features a variety of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and art installations.
After the success of the first Deities of Nepal, held from November to December 2022 and praised by James Gaimbrioni, founder of the Indigo Gallery in Kathmandu, this Deities of Nepal II is hoped to be better and more successful than the first one, and it is seen as being true due to the visit of more tourists and visitors this year.
