June 7th, Kathmandu, Nepal: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has seen a rise in scholarship opportunities for students in private schools, thanks to Mayor Balendra Shah’s efforts. According to a Facebook post by Mayor Balen on Thursday, over 19,000 students have been awarded scholarships in the current academic session of 2081. Around 473 schools participated in this act to provide scholarship opportunities for more than 19000 students.

This shows significant rise in compared to last year, when 465 out of 504 private schools provided scholarships to more than 13,000 students.

This shows that a wider range of schools are now involved in providing financial aid to students.

Balen Shah stated, “18,422 students are selected out of 1,49,956 students who applied for scholarships. We provided scholarship worth Rs. 2 billion by just using the existing law, Mayor Balen stated in the post.

This act will make education more accessible and affordable for needy students. Let’s hope all the officials in every district utilize this act and make education easy and affordable for everyone in Nepal.
