Thai Airways is preparing to expand its operations in Nepal by resuming and boosting its flight frequency in the coming month and a half. After a three-year break, the airline aims to return, and it’s currently seeking approval from Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAAN) to ramp up its flight services.
Society International, the official General Sales Agent of Thai Airways for Nepal, has officially requested permission from CAAN to boost the number of flights. Gyanendra Bhul, the information officer at CAAN, confirmed that Thai Airways has proposed the operation of two daily flights, starting the upcoming Friday.
Bhul mentioned, “Thai Airways has submitted a proposal to operate two daily flights, and we are currently in the process of reviewing it. The final decision regarding permission is yet to be determined.”
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline operated one daily flight, initially with wide-body aircraft, later transitioning to narrow-body series aircraft. Society International attributed the decision to increase flight frequency to the escalating demand observed from passengers.
The move signifies Thai Airways’ commitment to strengthening its presence in Nepal, potentially providing more travel options and connectivity for passengers in the region.
