A tragic plane crash occurred in Pokhara, Nepal, taking off from Kathmandu airport with 68 passengers and 4 crew members.
The plane, operated by Yeti Airlines under the registration number 9N ANC ATR72, was en-route to Pokhara from Kathmandu when it crashed.
The incident took place at around 10:30 am local time. It is believed that the Pilot of the plane diverted the aircraft to Seti river George from human settlement. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a plane flying low in a populated area, as it was not under control. They heard loud noises and saw a big cloud of smoke rising from the site of the crash. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene and started a search and rescue operation.
The flight carried 68 passengers including 15 foreign nationals and 4 crew members. The nationalities of those who boarded the aircraft that crashed are:

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal called an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers regarding the plane crash in Pokhara. He has asked to form a 5-member investigation committee to investigate the exact cause of the accident and asked all government authorities to go through it.
The Government of Nepal has also decided to give tomorrow a national holiday to mourn the lives lost in the Yeti Airlines plane crash┬а(10-1-2079).
