History
- In 1969, the government delineated 368 sq km of Northern Bardia as a Royal Hunting Reserve exclusively reserved for the royals and their guests.
- In 1976 Nepal’s government declared the area the as Royal Bardia Wildlife Reserve and expanded territory from 368 sq km to 968 sq km.
- In 1988, the government upgraded the park to national park status and renamed it as the Royal Bardia National Park. After the end of the monarchy in Nepal, the park is now referred to as the Bardia National Park.
