“The road from Jomsom to Korala has been obstructed due to heavy rainfall, and tourist mobility has been affected”

Dhorpatan. Because of a lot of rain, the road from Jomsom to Korala through the Jomsom-Korala section is blocked. The road under the Kaligandaki Corridor, which is an important project for the country, has been closed since Saturday night.

Dhorpatan. After heavy rainfall, the road from Jomsom to Korala via the Jomsom-Korala section has been obstructed. The road under the Kaligandaki Corridor, a project of national pride, has been blocked since Saturday night.

The floods caused by the swollen Khahare Khola in Baragung Muktikshetra Rural Municipality of Mustang have damaged the road in Khahare Khola area. Anup KC, the Chief District Officer of Mustang, provided information on this matter. He mentioned that due to the road obstruction, direct vehicular movement in the lower Mustang has been disrupted.

Last week, there were floods in Kag Khola. The road from Jomsom to Korala, which was previously fixed and working after the floods, got blocked again due to the recent floods on Sunday night. Anup KC said that because of this, traveling between places like Jomsom, Pokhara, and Kathmandu, to and from lower Mustang, has been affected since the usual ways of transportation are disrupted.

Tourists both from within the country and from outside, who are coming back from Upper Mustang, are facing difficulties. There isn’t another road to get to Upper Mustang from Jomsom. They are trying to reopen the road because the flooding in Khahare Khola has lessened. Anup KC explained, “Since last night when the flood happened in Khahare Khola, we can’t use the road to Upper Mustang directly. We’re using machines to clear the road, and we’re working on it until tonight.” He also added, “When the floods hit Kag Khola, many tourists had to walk up to Jomsom. Even now, some tourists are stuck in Upper Mustang. We’re hoping that at least by evening, vehicles will be able to move.”
