A group of doctors with special training has reached Gosaikunda Lake to help people who are visiting the Janai Purnima festival. The doctors are supported by the Bagmati Province Ministry of Tourism and Cooperatives and the Himalayan Rescue Association. Gosaikunda is a special place for religious pilgrims, and many people get sick because of the high altitude and other health problems during this time.
Seven doctors from the Mountain Medicine Society have reached Gosaikunda. They will stay there for 10 days to help people with their health. They will also check the health of people on their way to Gosaikunda.
These doctors know how to help people who are high up in the mountains. One of them, Dr. Nishanta Joshi, has worked at a health center in Solukhumbu.
Starting in 1997, a group of doctors from the Association has been going to assist the pilgrims. The head of the Association, Dambar Parajuli, mentioned that they provide free medical treatment and medicine to the pilgrims.
They’ve built a tall pole for phone signals near Gosaikunda Lake, which is way up high at around 4,380 meters above the sea.
