In an unexpected turn of events, air travelers at Lukla Airport found themselves momentarily stranded as regular flights were temporarily halted to facilitate a high-profile visit. This interruption, referred to as a “VVIP moment,” has raised concerns among frustrated passengers.
Under the promise of anonymity, a passenger shared their experience, revealing a delay of one and a half hours for their scheduled flight to Kathmandu due to this ‘VVIP moment.’
The disruption unfolded earlier in the day when a delegation, which included the Secretary General of the United Nations, journeyed from Kathmandu to visit Solukhumbu. This crucial visit prompted a brief suspension of the airport’s routine flight schedule.
When questioned about the rationale behind this interruption, Lukla Airport Chief Umesh Panthi clarified that the disruption was temporary and necessary to accommodate special guests arriving from Kathmandu. Moreover, he assured the public that regular flight operations to Lukla have since resumed without further interruptions.
