In a significant initiative, the Japanese Ambassador KIKUTA and Ms. Amira Dali, President of Love Green Nepal, recently signed a grant contract to facilitate the construction of a girls’ hostel at Shree Kali Devi Secondary School (SKDSS) in Lalitpur district.
This project, supported by the Government of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), involves a substantial grant of USD 156,881 (approx. NPR 20.5 million). The primary objective is to establish a secure and conducive educational environment by erecting a hostel specifically designed for female students. This provision aims to address the challenges faced by these students in accessing education.
Founded in 1962, SKDSS plays a pivotal role as the principal educational institution in Lalitpur’s southwestern region and the neighboring Makawanpur district. However, the hurdles encountered by students residing in remote areas, compelling long commutes or necessitating rented accommodations, pose safety and academic performance issues, particularly for female students.
This endeavor signifies a commendable effort to bolster educational opportunities and ensure a safer and more conducive learning environment for students, especially those facing geographical and residential challenges.
