The upcoming March is set to witness an unprecedented event in the world of rafting as Nepal prepares to host the world’s longest rafting competition, The Great Karnali Quest-2024. Organized under the joint efforts of Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA), Nepal River Conservation Organization (NRCT), and Karnali Basin Conservation Foundation, this historic event aims to cover an astounding 248 kilometers of thrilling raft racing.
Chairman Megh Ale announced the ambitious 248 km race that will traverse from Rakam Karnali in Aathbiskot Municipality of Dailekh to Daulatpur Ghat in Kailali. Ale emphasized the event’s significance in not only hosting an unparalleled race but also in fostering the cultural, economic, and touristic development of the Karnali region.
NARA President Shiva Adhikari echoed this sentiment, expressing optimism that The Great Karnali Quest Raft Race would play a pivotal role in advancing Nepal’s tourism sector. The competition, scheduled from March 8 to 13, invites registration from 16 teams starting from February 5 to 24. Already, six international teams have confirmed their participation, showcasing the global appeal of this thrilling event.
Originally planned for November 23 to 28, ‘The Great Karnali Quest’ faced postponement due to the unfortunate Jajarkot earthquake. However, this delay has only fueled the anticipation and enthusiasm for what promises to be a landmark event in the world of rafting and adventure sports.
