Meteorologists predict that Nepal will continue to experience the lingering effects of weakening cyclone ‘Michaung’ over the next three days. The cyclone, originating in India, has now reached Kathmandu, ushering in cooler temperatures and foggy conditions since Thursday.
As the cyclone weakens, it has resulted in a low-pressure area, inducing a drop in temperatures and the arrival of westerly winds across various parts of Nepal. This change in weather, influenced by the cyclone’s remnants from Chhattisgarh, has brought light rain to certain areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, altering the skies from partly cloudy to mostly clear.
Meteorologist Ganga Nagarkoti highlighted the dip in temperatures and the presence of westerly winds, attributing these changes to the cyclone’s partial impact on the region.
Forecasts suggest the likelihood of light to moderate rain in parts of Lumbini and Madhesh provinces later today, with hilly regions expecting partly to mostly cloudy conditions while other areas remain relatively clear tonight. Thunder and lightning may accompany light to moderate rain in specific regions across different provinces.
Anticipating scattered rain across the country tomorrow, provinces such as Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini may experience light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Saturday could bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to select spots within Madhesh and Bagmati provinces.
Nepal braces for continued fluctuations in weather patterns as the effects of cyclone ‘Michaung’ persist, impacting various provinces with varying degrees of rainfall and thunderstorms over the coming days.
