Elephant Disturbances in Chitwan: Impact on Local Communities

In Chitwan National Park, four elephants named Dhruv, Govinda, Ronaldo, and Makuna have been causing more trouble lately. They’re creating problems in the park and nearby areas.

According to Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, an officer at the park, Dhruv is causing more issues in certain parts of the park, while Govinda, Ronaldo, and Makuna are causing trouble in other areas.

Tiwari mentioned, “Dhruv is seen in some areas, and the other three elephants are in another place called Sauraha. This is where there are places for elephants to have babies and live, so these elephants are staying in these particular regions.”

Because these elephants are becoming more active, the park authorities want people living nearby to be careful. Tiwari said, “These wild elephants keep moving around, so everyone needs to be alert.”

Tiwari also asked people in nearby towns and villages to be cautious because these elephants sometimes wander and can damage things like crops. He stressed that it’s important to stay watchful, especially when going into areas with lots of trees.

Tiwari added that if anyone sees these elephants causing trouble, they should tell the park authorities or nearby security posts right away.
