
The Ex-Sportsmen Forum Nepal is gearing up to host the Safal Pokhara Marathon Championship starting February 17, 2024, in Kaski’s Pokhara, offering a total prize pool of Rs 1.85 million. Mahesh Poudel, the Forum’s Treasurer, revealed the lineup, which includes a 42-kilometer open marathon exclusively for men, granting the winner a Rs 500,000 prize. Additionally, there’s a 21-kilometer half-marathon for women, a 10-kilometer race for both genders, a five-kilometer race tailored for school students, and visually impaired individuals, and a wheelchair race.
This year, they’re introducing race categories for men and women aged above 50, expanding the championship’s inclusivity. Hari Prasad Parajuli, the Forum’s Chairperson, mentioned ongoing efforts to explore alternative routes for the marathon race through a dedicated study.
