The office in charge of looking after the Manaslu area in Gorkha, called MCAP, has been given more time another five years after almost three and a half years of uncertainty. Santosh Sherchan, the head of MCAP, explained the confusion surrounding whether the office would continue, as the decision to extend its duration hadn’t been made since June 2019.
Finally, in a meeting on December 21, the cabinet agreed to extend the timeline until mid-July 2028. This extension will make it simpler for them to plan and carry out their responsibilities of conserving, promoting, and managing the Manaslu area.
