In the Baglung’s Dhorpatan area, heavy snowfall has occurred. Snowfall has been reported since Wednesday, and with the change in weather, it intensified from Thursday night onwards. The snow has affected the residents of Dhorpatan sub-metropolitan city. Locals have faced difficulties in feeding horses, cattle, and livestock due to the thick snowfall. The heavy snowfall has made it difficult for locals to clear roads and paths.
The local lifestyle, which heavily relies on agriculture and animal husbandry, has been disrupted by the snowfall. An individual mentioned that on Wednesday evening, there was a feeling of light drizzle, which gradually turned into heavy snowfall overnight. Despite experiencing snowfall in previous months like Mangsir and Magh, this one is considered the heaviest of the year.
On December 1, snowfall occurred in the Dhorpatan area for the first time this year, and heavy snowfall was observed on December 18. The third snowfall brought joy to farmers and hoteliers in the Dhorpatan area. Additionally, neighboring high mountainous areas of Baglung have also been blanketed in snow. Surya Bahadur Gharti, the chairman of Nisikhola Rural Municipality in Baglung, Rolpa, and Eastern Rukum districts, mentioned that even in places like Baglung, Rolpa, and Eastern Rukum, there has been unprecedented snowfall. He highlighted the general impact of snowfall on people’s lives.
