Recently, the Pokhara Tourism Council (PTC) and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ met in Pokhara. They gave him a letter asking for some important things to improve tourism in Pokhara.
Because there aren’t enough international flights to and from Pokhara Airport and the roads leading there aren’t very excellent, they want international flights to begin at Pokhara Airport.
They also discussed the issues that travel-related firms face, such as low revenue and difficulty repaying debt. They requested further time and assistance from the government.
The PTC also wants changes in the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) to include representatives from Pokhara, and they want to restart individual paragliding, which was banned after an accident during a competition last year.
They suggested starting international flights first with Nepal Airlines and then inviting other airlines, and they asked for support for paragliding sports.
