Lamjung District a part of Gandaki Province with Besisahar as its district headquarters, lies in north-central part of Nepal in Western Development Region and has a unique blend of landscapes. Some of places are listed below: 

Ghale Gaun

In the Lamjung area, Ghalegaun is a well-liked and attractive tourist site situated 2100 meters above sea level. This community is well-known for its breathtaking scenery, kind welcome, and cultural offerings. Here, majority of people are from the Gurung community. For years, the people of Ghalegaun have maintained their culture, language, and customs. In addition, visitors can wear traditional Gurung attire, participate in cultural performances and dances, enjoy a campfire at night, eat and drink homemade food and drinks, and stay at any available homestay.

To reach Ghale Gaun, we can use either trekking paths or road transport. From Besishara, Lamjung, we have access to buses, jeeps, and even private vehicles. As roads are not in good condition during the monsoon, we may face difficulties when travelling.

Honey-seeking is usually seasonal and takes place in the spring or fall, depending on the bees’ cycle.

Lamjung Durbar

Lamjung Durbar is one of the best places to visit in Lamjung. It was built in the 16th century by King Yashobrahma Shah of Lamjung. It is the First Royal Palace of Lamjung and reflects the history of Nepal. It lies in Gaunshahar and is perfect destination for a one-day trek. Only 2 hours walk from the Besishara, the trek offers a wonderful view of Besishara, Marshyangdi valley and several mountain peaks. 

The historical palace is a combination of a temple and a residence. Many people gather during the festival of Dashain and sacrifice animals. The location is popular for witnessing stunning dawn and sunset views.

Rainaskot

Rainaskot  is a historical and scenic village which lies at 1700 meters altitude, where people get to experience rural lifestyle and witness beauty of Nepali culture. The community consists of people following different culture and traditions. Rainaskot is known for its terraced fields, traditional house and warm hospitality. 

From rainaskot, people can view 18 mountain ranges, including Annapurna, Fishtail, Manaslu, Ganesh, Lamjung Himal, etc. Not only that, but the people can also get to see brilliant view of sunrise and sunset  as well as landscape of sixteen different district like Kaski, Tanahun, Gorkha, Chitwan, etc.

Baraha Pokhari

Baraha Pokhari is a popular lake, religious destination, and part of a trekking trail situated at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level. Baraha Lake shares its glory with neighboring treasures such as Mun Pokhari and Dudh Pokhari at the meeting point of the Annapurna and Manaslu conservation areas. The visitors are rewarded with breathtaking views of the mountains, rhododendron woods, and ancient temples.

In addition to its natural beauty, this lake is significant culturally since every spring and April, on full moon day, Mela occurs at the pokhari, where followers of the Barahi goddess assemble to worship and believe that the goddess will fulfil  their wishes.
