
Manakamana Cable Car will resume operation on Ashoj 1, 2081, following a major renovation and maintenance period. The cable car is a popular tourist attraction linked to the Manakamana Temple. It had been closed for 50 days since July 15, 2024, for maintenance.
Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd. stated that the shutdown was required to upgrade the cable car’s system from antiquated technologies to current digital systems using fiber optics. The project also involves replacing the main cable line, which has been in operation for 26 years. The renovation is being handled by skilled experts from the Australian business Doppelmayr to ensure the latest technology and safety requirements.
The Cable Car, which began operating on November 24, 1998, connects the Manakamana Temple in Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality, Gorkha district.
This massive improvement seeks to enhance the cable car’s safety, efficiency, and overall passenger experience the thousands of devotees and visitors that visit the sacred site each year. The improved service promises a more comfortable and dependable travel for future passengers.
