The Nepal Premier League (NPL), a much-anticipated franchise-based T20 cricket league, begins this Saturday. It is being held at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The Janakpur Bolts will face the Biratnagar Kings at 12:15 PM in the season opener, setting the groundwork for an exciting season.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) organizes the Nepal Premier League (NPL) and has eight active teams. They are Janakpur Bolts, Kathmandu Gurkhas, Lumbini Lions, Pokhara Avengers, Chitwan Rhinos, Biratnagar Kings, Karnali Yaks, and Sudurpaschim Royals. Earlier this week, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli revealed the championship trophy in a magnificent event at Sundhara’s renowned Dharahara compound along with all competing team leaders.
Adding to the thrill, the matches will be aired live on Star Sports. The game will be commentary by famous international cricket experts. Some of the greatest names in international cricket will take the field, including India’s Shikhar Dhawan, New Zealand’s Martin Guptill and Jimmy Neesham, Pakistan’s Mohsin Khan, and more. Each side may have up to four international players in their playing XI, adding a global flavor to the game.
With a mix of local talent and international players, the NPL is set to produce amazing moments and increase cricket’s appeal in Nepal. Cricket fans, get ready—the excitement is about to begin!
