A unique incident in Lubu, a small village in Lalitpur, has left the locals buzzing with excitement and wonder. On January 24, 2025, residents discovered an ancient Mahadev (Lord Shiva) idol that is thought to be hundreds of years old. The finding has since become the talk of the town, with locals going to witness what many consider a supernatural blessing.
How the Discovery Happened
What began as a normal task of digging a well evolved into an extraordinary spiritual experience. Ramesh Manandhar, a local resident who had hired workers to dig a fresh water source in his courtyard, was shocked when one of the workers struck a hard item beneath the dirt. Following careful digging, the wonderfully sculpted Mahadev idol was revealed, unbroken and seemingly unaffected by time.
What Makes This Discovery Special?
Lord Shiva, also known as Mahadev or “The Great God,” is one of the most respected Hindu deities, representing both creation and destruction. Shiva, known as the protector of cosmic balance, has a special position in Nepalese culture and is extensively honored.
Locals think that discovering a Mahadev god is a sign of blessings for the community. Stories have already circulated, with some claiming supernatural intervention and others relating it to old Malla legends of hidden treasures and temples.
