Nepal Police achieved remarkable recognition, clinching the prestigious title at the Interpol 100 Global Video Contest for Young Police Leaders. The International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) announced Nepal’s victory during the 91st INTERPOL General Assembly in Vienna, Austria. Among 195 participating member countries, Nepal emerged victorious with a compelling message-driven short film entitled ‘Let’s Save the Planet-Interpol 100’, crafted by Police Inspectors Narayan Thapa and Umesh Gurung Shrestha.
This winning video artfully encapsulates Interpol’s pivotal role as a key ally of the United Nations in addressing critical challenges posed by climate change, natural disasters, and artificial intelligence. It underscores the imperative to achieve sustainable development goals, resonating globally with its poignant message.
During the assembly, INTERPOL President Major General Dr. Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi presented Nepal Police with a commendation certificate, acknowledging their exceptional contribution. The competition, aimed at commemorating the centenary of the international organization, witnessed participation from all INTERPOL member nations.
Led by Inspector General Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, a Nepali delegation represents the country at the General Assembly, showcasing Nepal’s commitment and prowess on the global stage. This triumph not only highlights Nepal’s excellence but also underscores the significance of collaborative efforts in addressing pressing global issues.
