Enhancing Safety: Closure of Butwal-Palpa Road from 10 am to 4 pm

Beginning January 1, 2024, a section of the Siddhartha Highway known as Butwal-Palpa road will be shut down for six hours daily, lasting for 100 days.

The District Administration Office in Palpa declared the closure from 10 am to 4 pm, following a decision made by the Highway Safety Committee during a meeting. This measure is oriented towards enhancing regional highway safety, although emergency vehicles like ambulances will not be affected.

The area of concern lengthens about 3 kilometers along this road due to landslides, prompting the ongoing construction of a 1,126-meter-long tunnel by the China State Construction Engineering Corporation. This project aims to improve safety and reduce landslide risks along this highway stretch.

Given the challenging conditions caused by the narrow road, the construction team requested traffic stops at specific spots during tunnel construction. So, a decision was made at the district administration office to close the road daily, starting January 1, to ensure continuous construction and successful tunnel completion.
