The World Bank is helping to improve roads in Mechinagar, Nepal. They’re investing a lot of money, around 1.03 billion Nepali Rupees, to build a 14-kilometer road in two important parts of the town called Shahidmarga and Suryodayamarga.
This project is part of a bigger plan by the Nepal government to improve infrastructure in 33 local areas across seven provinces. The World Bank agreed to give Nepal a loan of 1.5 billion US dollars for this.
In Mechinagar, they’re using some of this money, about 7.8 million US dollars, to construct two roads. One will be 5.3 kilometers long, going from Dhulabari Mode to Thoplebiran Community Forest through the market area on Shaheed Marg. The other road will be 8.5 kilometers from Bhattarai Chowk at Kakadvitta to Bahundangi Bazaar under Suryodayamarga.
These roads will be wider, have two lanes, and include proper drainage. The local governments are in charge of building them, and they need to finish both roads by July 15, 2025, according to the agreement with the World Bank.
