Simikot-Hilsa Road Closed Until Further Notice

The Simikot-Hilsa road is closed indefinitely because the construction work in Chaarara by the Hilsa-Simikot Road Project is progressing quickly, causing disruption in transportation services.

The chief of the Hilsa-Simikot road project, Belbahadur Nepali, has planned an uncertain closure of the Simikot-Hilsa road due to the accelerated construction in Chaarara, which is affecting transportation services.

Since there are no alternative roads in the region, the organizers haven’t provided any other options for the road closure. The project has announced the closure, mentioning that despite ongoing construction day and night, it will take more than 12 hours daily.

Although the project faces challenges in the rocky terrain, they claim progress and aim to improve the road after finishing work in the difficult area of Chyachhara. The ongoing construction has stopped transportation services for Yalbang, Tumkot, Yari municipalities, and the district center Simikot.

After closing the road, transportation options have become limited. Oasis Engineering and Builders have deployed fifty workers for manual construction, along with machine work. The company is striving to finish construction quickly to restore normal road conditions.

The company assures that the road will be in good condition after completion, but it’s uncertain when it will reopen. Since the closure, employees of Namkha Rural Municipality and locals have faced commuting problems, impacting business activities. The road development in the rocky terrain aims to bring relief to the region, allowing normal traffic when the upgrade is done.
