Changes in the Gandaki Province Special Transportation Permits Are Removed

In two districts of Gandaki Province, the government has canceled the requirement for a special permit for public transportation. This decision aligns with the new transportation regulations introduced by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport in Gandaki Province. The minister, Reshmi Bahadur Jugal, explained that the previous rule of needing a permit for taxis and jeeps to operate in specific districts has been eliminated. Now, there is a new provision allowing businesses to get temporary permits to travel to more than two districts based on their preferences.

To make it easier for businesses and travelers, the ministry now offers permits for the entire province, depending on the needs of the entrepreneurs. This change has been positively received in the two districts, with many appreciating the flexibility it brings. Bhoj Bahadur Thapa, who runs the Beni Transport Region providing taxi and jeep services in several districts, mentioned that having a single permit for traveling to different districts is convenient for passengers, especially for urgent or unexpected travel needs. This permit can be obtained by contacting the transportation office employees at any time, including evenings.

Tikaram Poudel, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport, explained that the new regulations published in the official gazette will be enforced as directed by the relevant authority responsible for issuing permits for inter-provincial travel.

Regarding the permit usage, it has been simplified for wealthy or organized companies. If a company wants to use a permit for a different route, the office that issued the original permit needs to include an approval letter for the new route.

Delhi Rijal, Chief of Transport Management Office Kaski (Savari), highlighted that the new provision includes obtaining a consent letter from the office that issued permits for a specific route when applying for a permit to operate a vehicle on a different route. He also shared that there are approximately five lakh registered transport vehicles, both public and private, in Gandaki Province.
