Nepal is the land of stunning mountains, green forests, and biodiversity that is popularly referred to as a natural paradise. However, under this beauty, there is an expanding environmental crisis. The alarming rate of urbanization, population increase and climate change has produced a balancing act in the development and conservation. The environmental history of Nepal is one of a great difficulty as well as great achievements- a matter of the strength and dedication of the citizens.
Nature Under Pressure
The environmental pressures facing Nepal are very extensive and multifaceted. The cities and especially Kathmandu Valley are experiencing extreme air pollution, uncontrolled waste, and traffic jams, which endanger the health and quality of life of the population. The actions by Nepal in conservation of wildlife have also produced impressive outcomes, the best of being that the nation became the first in the world to increase its wild tiger population by two-folds, an achievement that was appreciated by the rest of the world as part of the TX2 conservation effort. Such projects show that community led initiatives and involvement of the grassroots can result in a sustainable environmental change.

Government Programs and International Cooperation.
In order to sustain sustainable development, the Government of Nepal goes on with its policies and projects aimed at developing renewable energy, reducing pollution, and reforestation. Solar energy programs, clean cooking technologies, and environmentally friendly agriculture are enabling the communities to minimize their environmental footprint. Besides, Nepal is actively involved in international relations, exchange of its experiences and studying the global best practices at conferences such as the United Nations Climate Change Conferences (COP). The associations of this nature strengthen Nepal to play its role fully in environmental initiatives globally.
The Youth and the role of Education.
Awareness and education is a crucial element in the future of the environment in Nepal. Schools, universities, and nongovernmental organizations are paying more attention to environmental education and making young people knowledgeable and active in the role of planet stewards. Sustainability initiatives led by the youngsters, tree planting movements and conservation clubs are establishing some form of irresponsibility culture, which means the future generation will continue the sustainability mission.

The process of environmental sustainability in Nepal is still going on, and the hurdles are still quite evident. Nevertheless, the achievements that have been attained so far including restoring forests and conserving wildlife show promise. Further cooperation between government, local populations, and foreign actors, as well as the investment into education and greener technologies can ensure the cleaner, greener, and more robust future. Conserving the environment in Nepal is not only a national duty but it is also a donation to world environmental war against climatic change.
