On September 10, the Tiptala border point in Olangchungola, which is in the Phaktanglung Rural Municipality-7 of Taplejung district, will open. This border connects Nepal and China. It was closed because of COVID-19 for around four years, but now it’s going to reopen.
Rajan Limbu (also known as Mukti), who is the Chairman of Phaktanglung Rural Municipality, shared that the Tiptala Bhanjyang border point will start operating on September 10. Chairman Limbu had a virtual meeting with the leader of Dinggye County in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of China. They discussed the idea of reopening the border.
For a while, the Rural Municipality Office had been requesting the Dinggye County administration to reopen the Tiptala border. This time, they both agreed to open it on September 10.
The District Administration Office of Taplejung has also played a significant role in making this border reopening possible.
When the Tiptala border, located at a height of 5,100 meters, becomes accessible, it will bring convenience to the people living in Phaktanglung Rural Municipality. Chairman Limbu highlighted that this border opening will be especially beneficial for the people in Phale in Lelep, Ghunsa in Ward Number 6, and Olangchungola and Yangma in Ward Number 7.
This border acts like a road for getting things we need every day and other items from a location called Riu. It’s also used for sending things like carpets, yaks, and herbs to an area in China called the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR).
