
After the floods in the Melamchi River caused more damage, the Helambu Rural Municipality requested the provincial administration for aid.
Rural Municipality Chairman Nima Galzen Sherpa informed the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning under the Bagmati Pradesh government of the damage brought on by the floods and landslides and asked for help.
Chairman Sherpa expressed his disappointment that funding was not quickly given to Melamchi Municipality, Helambu, Panch Pokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality, and other areas that were at high risk of disaster.
Mohan Bahadur Basnet, the minister for health and population, visited Helambu and Melamchi on Saturday as well as other flood-affected villages of Sindhupalchok.
Minister Basnet was elected to the House of Representatives from Sindhupalchok’s Constituency 2.
On this occasion, Minister Basnet gave the district administration office and other relevant organizations the go-ahead to start right away helping the flood-affected communities.
Rameshraj Bhandari, the district secretary for the Nepali Congress in Sindhupalchok, Melamchi’s deputy mayor Ramsharan Giri, and other politicians, according to Minister Basnet, have also been sent to help the people living in flood-affected districts.
