UML General Secretary’s Proposal: A Direct Air Route from Pokhara to Chongqing

During his 12-day tour to China, CPN (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokharel proposed creating a direct flight route between Pokhara International Airport and Chongqing, China, at the invitation of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC). Pokharel, a CPC politburo member, made this proposal during a meeting with the Nepali group he led.

“Chongqing City in western China, known for its dense population and historical importance, hosted the event. General-Secretary Pokharel highlighted Nepal’s long-standing friendly ties with China, particularly mentioning former CPN (UML) Chairperson Manmohan Adhikari’s visit to China when he was Nepal’s Prime Minister, which strengthened the friendship between Nepal and China.”

Furthermore, Pokharel, a former Deputy Prime Minister, mentioned that Nepal and China signed crucial commercial agreements and treaties during his party’s Chairperson and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s visit to China. These agreements were considered essential for Nepal’s trade routes with third nations.

He voiced his party’s commitment to actively implement those agreements and treaties. He stressed the importance of young people from both nations exchanging experiences to enable Nepal to benefit from China’s expertise and knowledge in development activities.
