Nepali and Pakistani climbers have made history with successful ascents of Cho Oyu, the 8,188-meter peak. Nima Rinji Sherpa, at just 17 years old, became the youngest climber to conquer 10 peaks above 8,000 meters. Pakistani climber Shehroze Kashif, aged 21, also achieved a remarkable feat by climbing 13 peaks.
Notably, climbers Pasang Nurbu Sherpa and Mingtemba Sherpa reached the summit without supplemental oxygen. Gelje Sherpa from Nepal guided British climber Adriana Brownlee to the top, marking Gelje’s 14th peak and Adriana’s 13th above 8,000 meters.
Taiwanese climber Tseng Ko Erh, also known as Grace, reached her 13th peak alongside Lakpa Nuru Sherpa and Dawa Nurbu Sherpa. Polish climber Dorota Lidia and Russian climber Alina Pekova scaled Cho Oyu on their quest to conquer all 14 peaks.
Seven Summit Treks plans to continue their expeditions, heading to the Shishapangma Basecamp once weather conditions allow. In April and May 2024, they will lead the Cho Oyu and Shishapangma Expeditions.
