Two female rhinos have fallen victim to poaching in Chitwan National Park, discovered deceased with their horns removed near Chaparchuli Post. According to CNP information officer Ganesh Tiwari, the rhinos were lured into ditches, resulting in their demise.
“The younger rhino, aged six, had its horn severed, while the 18-year-old had its horn entirely removed,” Tiwari confirmed. Investigations reveal that the younger rhino fell prey to a recent trap, while the other met the same fate in an older trap.
Authorities initiated inquiries following the incident report on Thursday evening. This tragedy follows the natural deaths of five rhinos this year. Previously, poachers claimed two rhinos at Amaltari last year, highlighting an ongoing concern for wildlife conservation in the area.
