The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has issued a warning of heightened wind speeds in Madhesh and Koshi provinces due to the impact of Cyclone Michaung. This meteorological development is expected to influence various regions in Nepal, prompting officials to advise preventive measures.
According to MFD, the prevailing weather conditions in Nepal reflect the partial influence of westerly winds, coupled with the presence of Cyclone Michaung near Andhra Pradesh, India. Consequently, an escalation in wind speed is anticipated today, particularly affecting air travel in Madhesh and Koshi provinces.
Currently, Koshi Province, Madhesh Province, and mountainous regions experience partly cloudy to normal weather, while the rest of the country enjoys generally clear conditions. This afternoon, Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces may witness partial to normal rainfall, while other areas remain clear.
MFD officials highlight the possibility of light rain in select locations within Koshi Province and slight snowfall in specific high-hilly and mountainous areas.
Tonight, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are expected to experience partly cloudy weather, with the remainder of the country generally clear. Light rain may occur in a few areas of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, alongside the potential for light snowfall in certain elevated regions of Koshi Province.
Given these forecasts, MFD urges the public to exercise necessary precautions. This includes considerations for potential light rain in specific areas of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, the likelihood of light snowfall in high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi Province, and a potential overall drop in temperatures across the nation.
