Children from the Chepang community attend a school in Jinglau without warm clothes or shoes during the cold season. Some kids are coming to school hungry because the midday meal program, Lal Chepang, has stopped for over a month. The school and local government haven’t been informed about this suspension. The head teacher says meals haven’t stopped but wants better attendance before distributing food, while Teacher Chepang believes parents can’t provide lunch. This pause is affecting the education of Chepang children directly. Resident Gopal Chepang feels it’s unfortunate that the government-supported program has been discontinued, depriving kids of meals for two months. The municipality issued a directive to ensure the smooth operation of the meal program at the school.
