Jhinu Danda is a popular destination for hikers on their way to Annapurna Base Camp because of its well-known natural hot springs. After a challenging hike, guests are able to relax on the Modi Khola for about twenty minutes downstream. Traveling to the hot springs is a wonderful walk through a forest of rhododendron, which helps relieve tired legs for hikers returning from their journey. It’s extremely important to follow local traditions and prevent yourself from skinny dipping while keeping in mind the seasonal closure during the monsoon season in June and July.
There are three main pools, each of different temperatures. Many people are excited about the highest of the pools which hangs out over and right at the edge of the thundering Modi Khola River.
These healing pools are just a short 15–20 minute hike from Jhinu Danda’s village and tea houses. Pool maintenance is funded partially by small donations that are asked for by caregivers or priests; considering the breathtaking natural environment, this is most commonly an adequate gesture.
A great way to end a hike in the Himalayas, the highest pool is positioned right over the edge of the thundering Modi Khola River. During peak hours, guests can buy snacks and even enjoy a chilled beer.
