Sauraha’s South Asian Film Festival Begins On February 1

A South Asian Film Festival is going to happen in Sauraha from February 1, organized by Caravan Nepal. The goal is to boost Nepali films and promote tourism in Chitwan. The festival will have over 100 stalls featuring movies, tourism info, and local food. They expect 50,000 visitors and aim for a turnover of Rs. 15 million.

During the five-day event, discussions will focus on state and private sector initiatives for film and tourism development, urging the government for policy reforms. Ratnanagar Municipality is supporting the festival, showcasing films, documentaries, and short films with filmmakers from eight countries.

The festival aims to foster cultural exchange and highlight South Asian storytelling. Awards will be given in categories like best film, director, and screenplay. The organizers hope this event will revive tourism in Sauraha and Chitwan. Previously, Caravan Nepal organized the Golden Film Festival in Birgunj and a festival about Buddha’s life and philosophy in Lumbini, Buddha’s birthplace.
