Minister Surendra Acharya believes that developing Manungkot in Tanahun district will boost tourism in Nepal. He launched the 7th Byas Town Ultra Marathon in Manungkot, expressing the importance of improving physical infrastructure in the area. The mayor, Baikuntha Neupane, mentioned that the marathon aims to promote tourism and culture in Manungkot.
The ultra-marathon, starting on Martyrs Day, covers a 44-km route connecting Magar village to Gurung within the municipality. Participants include 116 runners from various districts and departmental teams like Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Police. The race starts in Manungkot, passing through several stations before finishing at Pulimarang. Prizes ranging from Rs 16,080 to Rs 85,000 will be awarded to the top runners. The event, which was initially exclusive to Tanahun district runners, is now open to participants from other districts.
